It's likely not too late to plant bare root Liriope spicata in Atlanta, GA, but it's getting close to the end of the ideal planting window. Fall is generally the best time to plant Liriope because it allows the roots to establish before the stress of summer heat. Early spring is also a suitable time as long as the ground isn't frozen. Since it's mid-September, you can still plant the Liriope, but do it as soon as possible to give it the best chance of establishing before winter. Make sure to water it well and regularly, especially if the fall is dry. Alternatively, you could try to find potted Liriope, which can be planted anytime during the growing season.
