Coreopsis grows and blooms best with at least six hours of direct sunlight. In partial sun, tickseed are often tall, thin with fewer flowers, and more prone to foliar diseases. However, in hotter locales, Coreopsis may prefer some afternoon shade.
A low-maintenance, drought-tolerant, long-blooming flower; in their ideal environment, Coreopsis do not require much care. With more than 80 species of coreopsis, there is a choice to match any garden design just make sure they have good soil drainage.
